SIMS Versions Supported

SIMS Summer 2024 Release plus work station patch 2 or later.

SIMS Pre-Requisites

Licence Patch 

Licence patch <TBC> must be applied to SIMS to set up HR data exchange with SAM People / FEPS.

The application will not operate without a correct licence patch being applied.

The licence patch manages the collection of data items that are exchanged.

SIMS User

Ask your system manager to create a user for this process.

  • example name <HR_Data_Exchange_User>
  • Permissions required
    • Personnel Officer [Must be this specific permission group and not similarly sounding alternatives]
  • Ask your system manager to use the temporary password assigned and to log in and reset the user's password to something that complies with school policies.
  • You will need the user name and password to complete the set up.
  • In addition, please ask your system manager to provide the SQL Server name and database name.

The normal port used will be https (442)  and TLS 1.2 is expected to be supported.

Staff Matching

Before any matching is attempted, it is essential that all staff in SIMS and in FEPS / SAM People are assigned their correct NI numbers. Failing to assign NI numbers correctly in SIMS will result in duplication of staff post update from SAM People. 

References to staff absences in SIMS

Absences are matched on the notes field with the prefix of "SAMPEOPLEREFERENCE: "

Getting Started

  1. Ensure pre-requisites are met.
  2. You will need to have received credentials from MHR 
  3. Download the installer from <TBC>
  4. Run the installer.
