FMS6 - Scanned Documents

Scanned Documents in FMS / SQL Storage option

In order to use Scanned Documents functionality and store the documents in SQL, FMS customers will need to:

1. Enable FILESTREAM in SQL Server
2. Apply a licensing and configuration patch to enable filestream to be able to be used in FMS.
3. Select the filestream option in FMS

This will enable supporting documents to be added to FMS Invoices et al.

How to enable File Stream in SQL

In order to enable FILESTREAM please follow the following steps:

1. Go to: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/sql-server-configuration-manager?view=sql-server-2017
2. Choose the version of SQL that you are using and run the command shown:

2. In the list of services, right click SQL Services, and then click Open

3. In the SQL Server Configuration Manager snap-in, locate the instance of SQL Server in which you want to enable FILESTREAM

4. Right-click the instance and then click Properties highlighted above.

5. In the SQL Server Properties dialog box, click the FILESTREAM tab.

• Select the Enable FILESTREAM for Transact-SQL access check box.
• Click Apply.

How to Apply the Patch

1. Download patch 16361
2. https://pmapis.azure-api.net/guidance/
3. Unzip the patch in to a folder say c:\temp\16361
4. Run dbUpgrade (Start | Run DbUpgrade)

5. Press Install

Enabling File Stream in FMS

Check the box for ‘Store scanned documents in the database.  Please note that this is a one-way process.  If partners need systems that work with and without file stream enabled, they would need to install 2 FMS databases.
